This is a detailed, step-by-step process that will take you through completing Sustainable Sourcing on one field. You are not limited to this process as there are other methods to completing Sustainable Sourcing that any given person may prefer however, this process is simple and will help you better understand how the Sustainable Sourcing product works.
Step 1. Once you get logged into the Morning Farm Report®, click* the red product circle at the top of your screen called Field Story™.
*If you are viewing Morning Farm Report® on a mobile device, you will tap instead of click.
Step 2. Click the field you would like to edit on the left hand side of your screen in your Farm Tree.
Step 3. Scroll down the page to view the Field Story Timeline for the field you have selected.
Step 4. Click on the year/cropping episode by physically clicking on the crop year and crop type. For this example, the 2017 crop year has been selected.
If you do not have the crop year you are wanting to edit, you will need to add your events by clicking on "Add New Event" directly below the Field Story Timeline heading. Start by adding a planting event and then proceed to add tillage, fertilization, chemical, and harvest events. Once you have added all field events for the respective crop year, skip to step 8.
Step 5. Select the planting event by clicking on the red pencil next to "Planting".
Step 6. Click "Date" to edit the planting date on the field. Use the calendar to select the desired planting date.
Step 7. Click “Specific Crop” to confirm the crop type, then proceed to enter additional planting details. Select “Save”.
Step 8. Repeat steps 5-7 for tillage, fertilization, chemical, and harvest events. Once you believe you have completed adding all the field events for a specific field in Field Story™, select the Sustainable Sourcing red product circle.
Step 9. Based on the crop year that you are completing Sustainable Sourcing for, select the correct crop year in the upper right hand corner of the Sustainable Sourcing page. Click on the pencil next to the year (pictured below). For example, if you were completing Sustainable Sourcing on this field for a 2016 Winter Wheat crop, then you would need to click on the pencil next to the year in the upper right hand corner to change the year to 2016.
Step 10. Once you have selected the correct crop year, scroll down the page to check the Required Events to see if you have green check marks for all field events.
Step 11. If you do not have green check marks for all field events you will not be able to click the “Calculate” button. To update the remaining field events to turn them to green check marks, click the “Update” button underneath the field event with a yellow triangle or red exclamation point.
Step 12. Complete the steps that you are taken through automatically for the selected field event. Click “Next” to move to the next entry section.
Step 13. Click “Save” once you have completed all the information for the specific event.
Step 14. Update the required events on the Sustainable Sourcing product page until all of the required field events have green check marks.
Step 15. After all the required field events have green check marks, the calculate button will turn from offline (A. greyed out) to live (B. bold).
Step 16. Click “Calculate” to finish Sustainable Sourcing for a field.
Step 17. Click “Got it!”.
Step 18. For the field, your Sustainable Sourcing page should look identical to the image below. You should have a greyed out “Calculating…” button. Your sustainability metrics are being calculated and will be available at 5 a.m. CST.
Step 19. Repeat the above steps for each of your fields.
